Location of Fleur de Sel self catering bungalows
Fleur de Sel is located a mere 25 metres from the Anse Royale beach, in the relatively tranquil south of Mahe, the main island of the Seychelles. This beach, largely unfrequented during the week days, comes to life during weekends, when many Seychellois families join in truely Seychellois-style picnics, with the barbecue grill at the centre of the activities.
During the north-west trade winds season, the waters of the Anse Royale bay are very calm and ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The sea life is abundant and worth exploring, particularly the shallow waters around the small Ile Souris (Mouse Island).
Anse Royale was once upon a time, during the French colonial rule, at the centre of the production of spices in Seychelles, such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. At present day, it is the home of the recently opened University of Seychelles. The main industries of the district are farming and fishing; visitors will surely notice the vegetable farms along the Les Cannelles road and the many small fishing boats in the bay.
Guests of Fleur de Sel do not have to go to far to shop for groceries or to relax in a restaurant. There are several restaurants within 10 minutes walk from the establishment. The Anse Royale hospital and a cinema are also close by.
Anse Royale is about 20km from Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles and about 10km from the International Airport. From Anse Royale, you can easily travel to the west coast of Mahe, via the Les Cannelles pass, to vist places such as Baie Lazare, Anse a la Mouche and Anse Boileau.
